CheeCh Privacy Policy

CheeCh ("we", "our", "the app") is a ride-sharing coordination app that lets users post and browse ride offers and seat requests. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and how it's handled.

Information We Collect

When you create an account and use CheeCh, we collect:

• Account information: email address and password (via Supabase Authentication)
• Profile information: full name and phone number, which you provide during sign-up
• Ride post content: origin, destination, departure time, seat counts, and any notes you add when posting a ride offer or seat request
• Booking information: which ride posts you've booked seats on
• App usage: basic events about how the app is used — for example when it is opened, which screens are viewed, and actions such as posting a ride, booking a seat or tapping Call / WhatsApp — together with the platform (Android or iOS), the app version, and a random identifier created for each installation. We do not record what you type, your location, or your contacts.
• Push notification token: if you allow notifications, a device token issued by Apple or Google (via Expo's push service) so we can send you notifications

We do not collect location/GPS data, and we do not process any payments — CheeCh has no in-app payment system.

How We Use Your Information

• To create and manage your account
• To display your posts and contact details (phone number) to other users so they can coordinate rides with you via phone call or WhatsApp
• To operate core app features: the ride feed, posting, and booking
• To understand how the app is used (for example how many people use it each day and which features they use) so we can fix problems and improve it
• To send push notifications about your rides — for example, when someone books a seat on your ride, or when a ride you booked is cancelled

Your name and phone number are visible to other signed-in users of the app, since the app's purpose is to let riders and drivers contact each other directly.

Data Storage

App data (account records, profiles, ride posts, bookings) is stored using Supabase, a hosted PostgreSQL database provider. Push notifications are delivered through Expo's push notification service, which passes them to Apple Push Notification service or Firebase Cloud Messaging. We do not sell your data or share it with third parties for advertising purposes.

Data Retention & Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from within the app: open the Profile tab and tap Delete account. This immediately and permanently deletes your account, profile, ride posts, bookings, push notification token and the app usage events linked to your account. Passengers who had booked seats on your upcoming rides are notified that the ride was cancelled.

If you can't access the app, you can also request deletion by contacting us at the email address below.

Children's Privacy

CheeCh is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
